What is IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you work, study, or migrate to a country where English is the native language. This includes countries such as the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA.
More than 11,000 organisations globally trust IELTS, so when you take the test you can be confident that it is recognised by educational institutions, employers, governments and professional bodies around the world.
The test can be taken in more than 1,600 test locations in over 140 countries/territories.
Your ability to listen, read, write and speak in English will be assessed during the test. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9.
Being able to communicate in the native language of the country you wish to work or study in, has a wide range of benefits. It is also essential for job opportunities as well as integration into the community.
IELTS has been developed by some of the world’s leading language assessment experts and will test the full range of English skills needed for success in your new job or study placement abroad.
You’ll be assessed on the following elements:
There are two IELTS tests available “IELTS Academic” or “IELTS General Training”. GMC looks at IELTS Academic scores which measures whether your level of English language proficiency is suitable for an academic environment such as hospitals.
